Earlier this year, Modern Playhouse Series returned for the 2025 season with “Happy Birthday, Nat King Cole“. The production, which I told you about here, will have an encore performance on Thursday, June 19th. Before that takes place, Creative Director Lisa Gay will salute a pair of musical greats:

Modern Showrooms’ acclaimed Playhouse Series proudly presents A Celebration of Love, a soulful musical tribute honoring the legendary Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway. These Grammy Award-winning icons created some of the most timeless R&B duet ballads and funk anthems that spoke of love and the social conscience of their time—songs like “The Closer I Get to You” and “What’s Going On”, which continue to resonate today.
This unforgettable evening will feature renowned Las Vegas performers Reggie Gonzales, Gina Eckstine, Nate Bridewell, Katy Monroe, and Lisa Gay, blending their eclectic voices to honor the artistry of Flack and Hathaway and celebrate the enduring power of classic soul.
